"Not being understood"

About: Hounslow IAPT

(as a service user),

I applied to IAPT Back on track as a carer who is struggling. I had already tried the local carers network but because I and the person I care for live in different boroughs they could not help. I have a diagnosis of bipolar and am currently under the temporary care of mental health services for a medication change. Because of this I was turned down for support as a carer, even though this meds change is completely separate from the short term talking therapy support I am asking for. In the letter informing me of this decision, I was referred to my GP but it is my GP who gave me the link to apply to IAPT in the first place. I would have preferred that some one contacted me to fully understand my case.

Dear BPBear,

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you were not able to access the support you were looking for. Back on Track is commissioned to work with people who live in or have a GP in Hammersmith & Fulham however we would like to look into this further for you to understand what additional support we might have been able to provide you under these circumstances. If you would like to discuss this further, please can you contact us via the details below and ask to speak with one of our service user experience leads, who will then be able to find out more about your situation and explore your options for treatment.
