About: One Recovery Bucks / High Wycombe

(as a service user),

I have been in recovery for nearly 3 years. Finally with the support of orb and Evie I've come out the other side, shiny side up.

It wasn't easy at first, but coming to realise that it is me in control to say yes or no! This only happened by removing the temptation,  and not being around those who chose that type of life style.  There's a saying , that we become a product of our environment, or, bad association spoils useful habits.  In other words, we can't become good if we are surrounded by the bad. We have to take responsibility for our own decisions and when we recognise our decisions are not getting us where we want to be, then we will hopefully make wise decisions.

I'd like to thank all those who have helped me in my recovery, connections support, orb team and Evie.  As well as these I'd like to thank the true and living God, since studying the bible (New testament) change has become a lot easier.  And for anyone who has ever underestimated the Bible I have found it really does change life for the better. I am now understanding what true inner peace feels like and with out substance all I can say is that the feeling is amazing.

To anyone who is fighting, keep going and you will conquer.  One reason people resist change is because they focus on what they have to give up instead of what they have to gain. Don't focus on the past and what type of life style you used to live, rather focus on becoming free and no longer a slave to whatever substance or person that holds you down.

Can you also let Evie know, that I highly appreciate how she went above and beyond with searching for the help I was needing at different times in my recovery. She has been a major part in my recovery and really appreciate her patience, kindness, and friendship during this time!

Thank you Evie.
