"They put me on the urgent list but I'm still waiting"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Sleep Medicine

(as a parent/guardian),

Hi there! I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea around Christmas time by my GP and referred to the sleep clinic at the royal infirmary hospital, it’s been 9 months since I was referred and I still haven’t received an appointment for going in, I have phoned several times stating that I’m struggling mentally due to now having insomnia and that I am up and down all night and I wake up with loss of feeling in my legs and feet. I am a student as well as a single mother with 2 children and currently I’m now having hallucinations due to lack of sleep.

I don’t understand why they can’t employ more staff as when I called regarding getting an appointment to be seen they said due to lack of staff I would be waiting longer, I can sympathise and understand the strain on the NHS but I also am a human being and need to be seen urgently, Due to all my symptoms and other symptoms I’ve been having they had put me on the urgent list and I’m still waiting… I don’t want to risk having to take this year out for college as I’m looking to start university next year. Is there anything that can be recommend to help? I have to see a mental health nurse every 2 weeks so they can keep an eye on my mood and I’ve done 6 weeks of sleep diaries which had also been sent to the sleep clinic. I just pray I get an appointment soon because my anxiety is also through the roof ☹️
