Care was punctual. The podiatry assistant was friendly and helpful. She took time to explain what she was doing.
However, my father has dementia, and I wasn’t confident that the podiatry assistant took this onboard when carrying out procedures. My father may not have been responding as requested to sensations throughout the tests.
The podiatry assistant sought a second opinion so this increased my confidence that any diagnosis was OK.
I feel that dementia may be overlooked, as carers do not always feel able to highlight the situation in front of the patient. Are all staff trained in understanding dementia, I wonder?
