I had to have a liver biopsy and was apprehensive about it as my dad had had the same procedure a few years ago. Once I arrived in Radiology I was taken straight away and the nurses and doctor explained what would happen. As I was awake during the procedure, the staff made sure I was aware of everything that was going to happen. A nurse stayed by my side and chatted to me while the biopsy was happening and kept me focused. Afterwards the nurses were exceptional in checking on me and making sure I was ok in the 4 hours I had to lay flat after the procedure.
I then had to sit for an hour and then get up for an hour before I could go home. The nurses made sure I was aware of what I needed to look out for and be careful of in the next hours and days until my puncture wound healed.
I would like to give a mention to Angie and Maggie, the two nurses that looked after me so well while I was in, and also to Dr Dochert, who put me right at ease. Their care, attention and dedication helped me feel very well cared for, in the hands of true professionals. The excellent team at Clinical Radiology are what the NHS are made of!
"Wonderful care and attention"
