"Anxiety and difficulty with coil removal"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I had an out of date Mirena coil expire during the pandemic. I had tried my GP who couldn't see the strings. Referred to my local sexual health clinic who then also couldn't find the strings (multiple docs / nurses tried).

After having a difficult coil insertion (rude doctor and passed out for pain) I was more than anxious about getting it back out, especially now it was classed as complex. Sexual health clinic then referred me on to the hospital to have it removed, assuming it had lost strings.

Arrived at the hospital, had a panic attack in the room. We proceeded to let the doctor have a look and lo and behold, no quicker than the speculum went in was the coil out. I was ASTONISHED. Absolute master of his trade.

I wish I could choose to see Dr Morgan at the Inverclyde Royal for all of my gynae needs!
