I was at work on Tuesday morning when I began to feel unwell. My colleague insisted I attend a&e as according to her wrist worn heart rate monitor (apple watch) my heart rate was high. Immediately on attending a&e, I was seen by a staff nurse, who took my pulse manually and took me through to a bedspace. When they attached the ECG it became clear that my hear rate was spectacularly high (I think 240bpm was registered at one point!) They brought me through to resus. There I was seen by an incredible Dr Neil who looked after me from start to finish.
Luckily, they were able to reverse the funny rhythm my heart was performing (although that wasn't very dignified- but it worked!) using vagal manoeuvres. It meant no drugs to reverse the rhythm and I didn't need an admission! Thank goodness. I got a massive scare, but was so grateful for this wonderful team! An especially big shout out goes to the health care assistant who looked after me from start to finish. She was calm, kind and very supportive throughout. Thank you guys!
I was then able to attend my GP practice (Whitefriars in Perth) and was seen by a gp and the nurse who were both incredible, and really put my mind at ease.
In times of such great pressures, I applaud you all!!
"Amazing care and excellent team working!"
