"Lack of care and empathy"

About: Finchley Memorial Hospital

(as a service user),

Attended the urgent walk in centre at Finchley Memorial Hospital a few days ago - all treatment up until that point was very good. Staff were helpful and friendly but the doctor I saw I found utterly useless, and had zero empathy. I was dismissed and sent away without any treatment.

I paid £250 for a private doctor's appt. yesterday and have discovered that I have a serious neck injury which requires urgent treatment. The symptoms I displayed (acute pain in shoulder and loss of feeling/sensation in my right hand) are typical of spinal injuries. The private doctor I saw yesterday was really shocked at the (lack of) treatment I received in hospital. I actually went to the Royal Free in Hampstead as well and had a similar experience but without the unpleasant attitude of the doctor. They also refused to treat me.

So this is where the NHS appears to be  - deliberately depriving people of treatment even when it is urgent and totally necessary. What a farce. I despair for the NHS. I will probably now have to sell my house to pay for the treatment I require. Pathetic.
