My 3 year old very obviously broke her arm in a fall and had to go to kids' A&E.
From the start the staff were wonderful. Staff nurse Diane in A&E was a delight, along with her medical colleagues whose names I don't remember, but they were hugely helpful in keeping me updated with what was happening and making sure it all happened swiftly. Every nurse and HCSW on Surgical Ward at RACH also made us feel welcomed and at ease.
Surgeon Mr Forrest was the star of the show. Attentive, approachable and very obviously well liked by the other staff members who had nothing but good to say about him. Took the time to explain everything to me and never made me feel rushed despite clearly being very busy.
Apologies to the anaesthetist whose name escapes me but he was another member of staff who really took the time to explain what could have been very scary for me to see. That preparation allowed me to comfort my daughter without either of us panicking too much while she was put under for her op.
Can't fault any part of our experience, horrible to go through and see your child in pain but the staff really made the effort to make it as easy as possible for us.
