"Attending Minor Injuries Unit with Parkinson’s"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as a service user),

I had to attend the Minor Injuries Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after falling off my bike & sustaining a suspected broken wrist. The major complication was that I have  Parkinson’s Disease - I was worried I wouldn’t be able to be still enough for the X-ray and was dreading having to explain about it and the issue of drugs wearing off etc, which I have had to do on so many occasions.

As it turned out, Nurse Practitioner Lynsey’s knowledge of the condition was superb and she went out of her way to give me extra support.  I was then taken through to Wilma in X-ray, who was so patient & understanding and also clearly knew about the issues of Parkinson’s.

My experience couldn’t have been better. I hope these two very special ladies get the recognition they deserve.

Thank you Lynsey & Wilma.
