Originally I was in the hospital and it was arranged for me to come to here for a short period. I came into the home and was made very welcome. The owner and the staff were very positive as to how I would find it here. It took me a while to accept that I was no longer living at home and no longer as independent as I previously was.

My mobility is not so good and I am very dependent now on people looking after me, that causes me frustration as I feel I should be able to do the things I used to be able to do. I love it here, the owner especially as she is a very caring person, as are all the staff. It is a very homely place. You never think of getting old and having to go into a care home. Time is short - make life to be as interesting as one can.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story about your experience of moving into a Care Home.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be to accept not being able to do the things we used to but it makes all the difference when settling in to any new environment when the staff are caring and friendly and that your surroundings are comfortable.

You have given us wonderful information on how one can feel when the times comes when we need a little more help.

We will use this information to support others who may be considering moving to a Care Home.

We will ensure your story is shared with the Seaview House and also we will include it our work to improve the experience of residents within our Care Homes in Northern Ireland.
