"A&E admission"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I recently attended A&E at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with a suspected fracture. We waited around 2.5hrs to be seen, which was very difficult when in so much pain. However once I was called through, the care I received in the department was excellent.

The nursing staff put me at ease, and I was referred for x-ray very quickly. It was clear the department was very busy and short on staffing, however this didn’t affect the care provided. I was given pain relief, and the charge nurse took the time to talk through my x-ray and the next steps.  She was great (I think her name was Karen).

Dear Frctre

Thank you very much for sharing your story.

Our A&E Departments are extremely busy just now and I appreciate it was difficult waiting, especially when in pain. We really appreciate your understanding. I am pleased that the care you received in the department was excellent and that the nursing staff helped put you at ease. I will share your feedback with the staff which will be appreciated during these challenging times.

I hope you are feeling better.

Nicole
