My daughter attended ED when she was 6 days old. She was immediately seen by the triage nurse and promptly taken to medical staff who acted so quickly and got her the medical intervention she needed and I can't thank them enough.
After this we were admitted to Belvoir ward, where she stayed for 1 week. She received IV antibiotics and further tests to find the source of an infection. Seeing our fragile little newborn so ill and helpless was a thing of nightmares. However, the nursing staff and medical staff were extremely professional and comforting and I cannot thank them enough for what they did for our little girl. A major issue that has arose from our admission is that our GP is yet to receive a discharge letter.
My concern is that my GP is my first point of contact for the welfare of my child, and they have no knowledge of my child being as sick as she was. This concern is heightened because we came away from the hospital not knowing what the cause of the infection was, and if my daughter was to become unwell again her GP doesn't know her full history.
The GP have kindly tried to follow this up and contacted Belvoir ward, the consultant secretary, the registered doctor but have had no progress.
I don't think this is acceptable and I am hoping to try resolve this issue.
