I was brought into ED via ambulance and the paramedics done a brilliant job at bring me into ED and providing the help that I needed.
The moment I came in it was very busy which led to a delay because they were that full. While waiting the paramedics looked after me with great care in the ambulance (we had to wait in ambulance due to the busyness of the unit) - offering gas and air, and also offering to get a medic out to give morphine if I needed it.
When I finally got through to ED, my care continued to be at a high standard, despite how busy they obviously were. You could tell they have brilliant team working skills as it helped get everything done. But I must give a shout out to the senior charge nurse who saw me instantly, and immediately set my mind at ease, with her professional manner, her thorough assessment, and her clear explanations of what to expect over the next few hours.
Just after I was seen by the nurse the consultant then came to me and again, he was very thorough with his assessment and explanations, but beyond that, he has such a lovely manner, such a calming influence and that really helped me settle. He was also very attentive in getting me quick pain relief.
I was moved about a lot to get various tests and scans, and again, despite clearly working on a hectic day, the porter was so calm and kind and funny.
There were, of course, lots of other staff, all playing their part - the domestics, ensuring the place was spotless, the radiographers, other nurses. Each and every one were faultless. The staff are a credit to the department they have clearly stay focused on giving great care to their patients.
At the moment I am making a steady recovery now.
