"The ward has been much better"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 North Surgical Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came through the emergency department last week, it was very busy and I had to stay down here for one night. The beds were very small and I didn’t feel as if I had much room.

The ward has been better as I have got lots of room and it isn’t as crowded and noisy therefore I able to rest more. The food has been okay, I haven’t had much of an appetite.

Thank you for your feedback on our Emergency Department. We apologise that you had to wait in ED while your bed became available, unfortunately this happens daily. There are usually large numbers of patients delayed in ED waiting on admission beds. This blocks the assessment cubicles in ED and is the main cause of lengthy waiting times. ED is a 24/7 service which means it can be difficult to control noise and movement through the department as it is very busy throughout the day and night. We hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Jessica
