My aunt was admitted to Tarvit Ward, Adamson Hospital two weeks ago for end of life care, something which was so daunting and upsetting.
From the moment we arrived when I met staff nurse Doris I felt so comfortable and reassured that my aunt was in safe hands. We had previously experienced really poor care and a horrific journey from the local GP surgery which ultimately was a misdiagnosis. We had no support and for 13 weeks we nursed her at home.
My aunt was in a beautiful little room with a door to a small garden where we spent a lot of our time the last two weeks.
The main thing that assisted my family was the positive and caring attitude of all staff. We were treated with dignity, respect and they were so caring, They were outstanding looking after my aunt but also equally the family that supported her (us) which we had never experienced,
At a time where staff shortages, competing demands all over NHS this team at tarvit ward still strived and delivered the best care we could ever have wished for. It made a traumatising time easier to manage and deal with.
Amanda the charge nurse was exceptional, her caring and kind manner was admirable. Eva, Pearl, Maria, Chloe and staff nurse Siri in her final moments were just amazing forever asking if we were ok. I didn’t get all their names but every single person was outstanding.
I just feel the staff here should know how amazing they all are and how much they are appreciated,
Thanks very much
