My dad’s health history is extensive to say the least. A few months ago, he was given a new medication for nerve pain, and weeks later, a rash appeared all over his body.
Despite getting worse every day and visiting the GP and Accident & Emergency units on numerous occasions, nobody seemed to be doing anything. Around day 9/10, he had yellow fluid coming from his eyes, ears and nose, his rash had turned into redness from head to toe, he was struggling to swallow and his face was so swollen that he could hardly open his eyes.
My mum and dad felt helpless until they visited a GP on that day who sent photographs to Dermatology in Ninewells, who saw him right away. As soon as he went in, they did multiple tests on him, they took his vitals etc and treated him with the utmost kindness.
The swelling went down, he was given steroids and creams to help his skin and saw him in the cardiology ward (he also had a heart attack that day he arrived there). Since being home, his skin was still quite red but he has recently went back and couldn’t praise them enough.
They gave him a higher strength of topical treatments, which seem to be working so far, and again, were so kind to him. He told me that the staff took their time with him and they were thorough. I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done, especially when he feels like giving up at times due to being turned away by others.
