"Friction burn from treadmill"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Burns Service

(as a staff member),

My 7 year old son sustained a burn from a treadmill 9 days ago. Sharon saw him within hours of the accident. The team were amazing! The play assistants helped to keep him occupied while he had his burn reviewed, reroofed and dressed. I was given an appointment for the clinic a few days later. He received excellent care throughout his journey including an extra visit prior to our holiday abroad. The burn is healing really well and I have received fantastic after care instructions. Big thanks to the team!!

Dear Dracoce97,

Thankyou so much for taking the time to post your care opinion, I hope that your son is recovering well following his accident and I am pleased to hear that the experience was so positive in what must have been a stressful time for you all.

I will make sure that Sharon and all the team receive your lovely feedback. The whole team always strive to give the best care they can to their patients and acknowledge what a stressful time it is for the patient and their family. To receive such lovely feedback reassures them that they are giving exceptional care.

Thank you again for taking the time to complete our care opinion.

Dear dracoce97,

Sorry to hear about your son's accident on the treadmill, but glad to hear his burn is healing well.

We are delighted to hear your great feedback on his journey whilst he was attending our hospital and the care he received with regards to his injury, as this must have been a very distressing time for him and the family.

Our play assistants play a vital role in the hospital and to the care of our children, and it was lovely to hear what a difference they made, keeping him occupied while having his treatment carried out. We will definitely pass on your comments to the play team as they will be delighted to hear what a difference they made during your son's attendance at clinic.

We will also pass on your comments to Sharon, who is such an experienced professional in her field and regarding your post will be greatly appreciative on the comments of the care your son received. I am sure the extra appointment helped to allay any other points you wished to discuss prior to going on holiday and also knowing all was healing well, helped allow your son and family to go and enjoy your holiday.

Many Thanks for taking the time to post on Care Opinion, it was very much appreciated by the team.

Kind Regards

Mandy
