"What happens when you have a fall"

About: Lagan Valley Hospital Lisburn Intermediate Care Centre

(as a service user),

I had a fall at home and was taken to the Royal and they operated on my leg. I was in that many places, Musgrave as well and then the Lagan Valley and over to here in Lisburn.

I was getting physio every day in the Lagan Valley and it is different here as they don't have a physio, have only seen them once this week. Other weeks saw physio a couple of times, I want to get up and about so that I can get home. Now I have to wait for stuff being delivered for the physio so as I can get home. I would like more staff to be on seeing to people, when I came in at first there was more but then some left. I had a reclining chair in the Lagan Valley and the physio thought it could be sent over but they do not do reclining chairs here, I don't know why, as it would not be as hard to sit for hours if I had that.

Dear Dove3,

Thank you for sharing your experience of care following a fall at home. I am sorry to hear you have had such a challenging time and your focus on rehabilitation is wonderful. We are very grateful for your story. In the Public Health Agency we are working with a team in the Department of Health to improve experience of residents in Care Homes. Your experience has highlighted the importance of equipment and the value of physiotherapy coming in to support your recovery. I trust the equipment is delivered soon for you. There is a contact in your first response which may be able to support this. I will ensure your message about the importance of equipment and the physio team is shared and will be considered as part of the improvements for residents in Care Homes.
