I actually gave birth at Haywards Heath however ended up coming to East Surrey hospital for support with my breastfeeding.

I had my little girl on the 19th April, and she appeared to be feeding and latching on well from day one. However, when we got home something didn't seem right as I was having to wake my daughter to feed and even then she would only feed for a minute at a time. By Tuesday, I was concerned that she wasn't getting enough food, a concern that was made worse as my little girl had pooped since Sunday.

I contacted someone who I met through my NCT class, and she was amazing! She arranged for me to go to the hospital on Wednesday morning, rearranging my visit from the community midwife and giving us some invaluable help with breastfeeding. It turns out my daughter hadn't been latching on properly and had literally been topping herself up with milk. It also turns out I was on the verge of mastitis, and thanks to the help and support, I managed to overcome it quickly. This person didn't just stop at helping us with breastfeeding, she also arranged with the matron for us to see a peadatrician to further reassure us that our little girl was ok.

I can not sing this person's praises highly enough. We seriously haven't looked back since seeing her, and have kept in touch since. I've recommended two of my friends from NCT to contact her, and they have found her just as incredible - one even described her as the David Copperfield of breastfeeding! Every new Mum should have a person like her, she is worth her weight in gold!

I was also most impressed by the support and care offered by the matron that was on duty, particularly considering I hadn't been a patient there, and am just incredibly grateful for all the help we received. Thank so much.
