After falling awkwardly and heavily at home injuring my head and right leg, I was taken by my family to Tiverton & District Hospital, Devon. In the A&E dept I was seen by a triage nurse within 20 minutes Xrayed within 30 mins and seen by Dr Connelly within 40 mins. On recognising the severity of my leg injury - complete rupture and detachment of quadriceps tendon - Dr Connelly fitted an immediate supportive leg brace, cleaned and patched my head injury, contacted RD&E Hospital and provided me with a letter for presentation at RD&E A&E dept.
I was examined by physio staff within 1.5 hrs and immediately admitted to Durbin Ward with a recommendation for tendon repair operation the following day. This was actually carried out the day after.
I cannot praise highly enough the service and treatment I received at both hospitals, which I know are operating under challenging circumstances. I was treated with care, compassion and professionalism by all staff at every stage.
"Excellent treatment and service by all staff at Tiverton & District and RD&E hospitals Devon"
