I was involved in a serious life threatening RTA which has sadly left me disabled .
I spent time in both the Royal and Altnagavin hospitals - the care I got from the Doctors and nursing staff was first class and I would be forever grateful for their time and patience with me .
Sadly my only issue was the time I left Altnagavin Hospital in early December- I was due to go to the waterside hospital for intense physio. I was initially placed in a bridging unit ( it was a care home with an average of 90) for two weeks -
The two weeks became two months because of Covid !! Yet I had agency workers in daily.
I felt abandoned- no one from the waterside hospital came to me or even spoke to me on the phone . I could have had zoom - and zoom physio at least . Nothing . I believe this affected my healing. I’m extremely annoyed and very upset about this experience.
When I left the hospital I got fantastic help from the rehabilitation team in Omagh. I really want to thank Lisa the OH who give me a lot of confidence . I still hadn’t seen a physio at this stage 4 months after my accident .
Lisa in turn contacted the CMP where I got fantastic help and ongoing support from the amazing Caoimhe ( physio ) and equally amazing Natalie who have both shown a lot of empathy and emotional support to myself .
