I was suicidal and the out of hours doctor put me in touch with home response team.
I received a call from them late at night when I was in distress. I was suicidal and agitated.
I was told to go to bed and listen to music or read.
This is ridiculous advice for someone in the mental state I was in. I had recently been released from hospital after a suicide attempt.
I felt the same way again and was told to listen to music.
I have education in health and social care. I know how to practice self care, but at this point I was past that ability.
I feel let down and disappointed but most of all, angry at how the mental health teams dealt with me as a whole starting with the hospital who released me on a Friday, to my home where I live alone.
Changes need to be made starting with not telling someone in such high crisis, to go and listen to music because at that point, it won't work and it is patronising and unhelpful.
If, in future I need help again, I am hoping it will be dealt with better because I was left feeling worse rather than having been helped and put at ease.
"I feel let down and disappointed"
