Anything else?
I was not aware that i had sleep apnoea, until my Wife persuaded me to go to my doctors to see if they could help with my snoring. They got me an appointment with the Consultant at Medway Maritime hospital Respiratory and Sleep Medicine department. My 1st appoinment was15.01.2013 they diagnosed me with having Sleep Apnoea after i had taken home a machine that monitered me for 2 nights to check my sleep pattern. I had an Epwoth score of 18 and my overnight study had a dip rate score of 46 per hour.I would normally go to bed at 10.30-11.00 most nights and get up for work at 6.00 this meant that where i thought i was getting about 7hrs sleep per night in fact due to The Sleep Apnoea i was only getting about 2hrs. They recommended that i have a CPAP machine that was fitted over my nasal airway. At first i struggled over the first few nights only managing to keep it on for a couple of hours per night but i persevered and now i average at 7hrs per night usage which has made such a huge difference to my life.
I now go out a lot more without having to worry whether i am going to fall asleep midway through a conversation or miss halve the film.I can also drive without feeling drowsy and feel so much safer for it. I reported to the DVLA about my condition and they immediatly revoked my licence i recieved my licence back on 18.04.2013 after 12 weeks.
I cannot praise the staff highly enough at Medway Maritme for the Profesionalism and dedcation that they afforded me in the treatment i recieved. Thank you all for giving me back my life.
