"Some staff were not great"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

Attended here with my Sister who had emergency neuro surgery. Some staff were completely cold and had no compassion. Really think they should invest in some training to improve the patient experience; let’s face it, none of us want to be in hospital!

The single room in Ward 64 was filthy, had to clean the full room with chlorine; faeces on the shower chair from a previous patient, dirty toilet brush etc. Maintenance was very poor, wood shavings on the floor from a broken door, plug sockets hanging off the wall and the toilet handle came off in my hand.

I’m thankful to the staff who worked hard to help my family member however others were lacking.

Dear A Nurses Experience,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of Ward 64 Neurosurgery. I am very sorry to hear that this has not been a positive experience with regards to attitudes and behaviours, environmental factors and cleanliness. This is not the experience that we strive to provide. Thank you for the feedback that there were staff that worked very hard to help your sister. I have provided my contact details below to offer to discuss further the concerns you have raised.

Kind regards

Marie Austin
