"Infected tooth"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

We were away in Lincoln and I started with toothache.  It was mild at first but within 2 days had developed into a full blown infection resulting in severe pain and swelling of my jaw and neck.  This started to affect my swallowing and breathing.

I attended A&E in early July at 7:30 am and spent much of the day there.  I was seen by various professionals and had blood tests, ECG, X-rays medication consultation with a doctor and maxi- facial specialist. I was  admitted to Greetwell ward for surgery.

I spent the night on the ward to be prepped for surgery the next day, had a cat scan and went down for surgery in the afternoon.  They took the infected tooth out and drained the abscess by making an incision in my neck and draining the infection having a drainage bag attached to the left side of my neck.  I was in until Sunday morning was able to go home later that day
