"High quality and compassionate care"

About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Medical 2

(as a service user),

My Dad is 94 years old and he tested positive for coronavirus. He was admitted to ED and then to Medical 2, Causeway Hospital.

The care he received was superb. The ED bay was clean and he even received a hot dinner. All the staff treated me as his daughter with kindness and allowed me to stay in ED to answer questions as my Dad is hard of hearing and dislikes his hearing aid!

By default it was discovered that he had a low haemoglobin and received blood. The COVID appears to have been kept at bay and he was discharged and taken home by ambulance. Definitely high quality and compassionate care was given.

Hi Callendar94,

My name is Nicky Butcher, and I am assistant clinical services manager at Causeway Hospital, over the Emergency Department.

I am sorry to hear that your dad has been unwell, and wish him a speedy recovery.

As so many of our patients are elderly, we realise that a lot of them benefit from family support, particularly if they have difficulties hearing.

We encourage staff to encourage family support where possible.

I am delighted to hear your positive comments, and will ensure that they are passed onto my staff.

I am also delighted to hear that your dad has been discharged. He is obviously made of strong stuff!

Much appreciated,

Nicky.
