"Very Poor"

About: Leighton Hospital

Last week I waited for over 3 hours for a scheduled appt’, no info’/updates re’ delays were given and when I asked a Nurse how long the delay would be, I received a very rude response and was told “go if you like, we don’t care” (I had to go as my son’s childcare ended at 7:00pm, my appt’ was 2:45pm). The following day I received a letter inviting me in for laser eye surgery at very short notice, so today I turned up, had vision check and (stinging) eye drops etc, waited for 90 minutes and then told “you’re not having surgery today, don’t know why we wrote to you, go home and we’ll call you”. I had four scheduled appointments in the space of a week (I queried this, but was told I should attend them all), two were aborted, with a total waiting time of about 10 hours. Admin staff are pleasant and helpful, Nurses very rude and when you question the poor service and treatment, they become even ruder. Taking time off work, organising childcare and transport (can’t drive after eye treatment) for the two appointments that were a waste of time has cost me over £500 this week, who do I claim this back from?????

Dear patient,

Apologies if you felt you recent visit to the eye care centre failed your expectations on this occasion. If you would like to contact me directly on 01270273387 I can discuss this matter further and investigate the issues you have mentioned.

Nicky Mullin. Eye Care Centre manager. MCHT
