"I felt really disappointed and let down"

About: The Longley Centre

(as a service user),

I was in a crisis situation and needed help, it was decided that I should stay in the longley mental health decisions unit.

I have been in there only once before and I found it helpful and the crisis team came to see me afterwards, while I was there the first time I handed the staff some razor blades because I asked if they would put them in the sharps bin because I wanted to get rid of them, a member of the staff said thanks for handing them in and said that they would put them in the Sharp's bin.

This time I went in the decision unit and again the staff was nice but once again I handed over some more razor blades but this time I meant to take them knowing that they would dispose of them and I asked a member of staff if they would put them in the sharps bin. I did try and take the blades to a chemist to put in their sharps bin but they would take them off me.

When I left the decisions unit a member of staff walked me to my car where my husband was waiting for me, I got into the car and I saw the member of staff hand the blades to my husband.

I felt really disappointed and let down by the member of the staff because I put my trust in them to put the blades in the sharps bin.

With the staff handing them back to my husband that started a massive row between us in the car and when we got home, in fact the situation got that bad it made me self harm again. Why on earth did that member of staff did what she did.

I put my trust in the mental health team and was sadly let down.
