"Ambulance service and Air Ambulance"

About: Scottish Air Ambulance Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My father very suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on the 25th June. My mother had called for an ambulance who attended very quickly but unfortunately he died while they were transferring him into the ambulance. The crew worked on my dad for over 45 mins and the air ambulance was also called but he was gone.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the ambulance crew who tried so hard to save my dad and also who took care of my mum until my husband and I got to her.

The crew were so empathetic and caring and i wish i had gotten their names. They had to wait with us for a long time as the police had to attend due to the sudden nature of my dad's passing but the ambulance crew allowed us to go and sit with my dad when we wanted and took time to explain to my brother and me what had happened. They also provided my dad with dignity when the undertaker arrived by having the ambulance moved into a more private location for transferring my dad's body.

Thank you so much for your efforts.

Dear RM1584

First of all, please accept my sincere condolences for the passing of your father.

Under the circumstance it is very thoughtful of you to take the time to thank the crews who attended you father. We always try to pass on individual thanks to the staff involved.

With this in mind, if you would like us to trace the crews and pass on your compliments could I ask you to contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot and provide your details as well as your father's name and the address where the incident occurred. If you could remember to include your Care Opinion username then we can tie the two together.

Kindest regards

David
