"Over 27 hour wait"

About: York Hospital

I've called 111 instead of going A&E as I felt I didn't want to take someones space who would be in a really bad emergency. I've been to A&E a day before because of really bad back pain (kidney infection) and they gave me some antibiotics. The pain got worse so I thought it's maybe something to do with the antibiotics that's why I called 111. They made an appointment at urgent care for 4pm. I haven't been seen after 5.30pm for a couple of minutes by doctor who didn't know what to do with me as I was in extreme pain. He said hell referer me to a&e as I need further test and that he will give me a note of things that needs doing to take to A&E.

At this point I struggled to walk, they've sent me to A&E (I'm not from York been to the hospital second time) nobody offered me to wheel me around to A&E as you know the hospital is huge and I had to walk all the way to A&E from urgent care. It was a struggle as I was in so much pain.

At arrival at A&E they took my details and told me to wait for a nurse. Which took well over an hour, even tho I was at urgent care that didn't matter I had to start again and wait in queue. The nurse asked me what I need doing, and apparently the doctor didn't put any details to my discharge letter that I've meant to take to A&E so absolute waste of time to be making an appointment with 111 and urgent care.

After being seen by the nurse and taking my blood pressure, again and temperature I got sent to minor accident waiting room. This point it was well after 8pm (4 hours wait) I didn't get to be seen by a doctor at 2.30am! Then getting scans done which I had to be waiting for till 5am and then waited more till a doctor spoke to me about results which was before 7am. Then at 7.30am I got taken to surgical assessment unit. And the wait continues. After more scans and being told I've got cysts I didn't see the doctor till 6.30pm to tell me what's wrong with me. I didn't get discharged till 7.30pm. So basically well over 27 hours to find out my results.

I can't fault the staff I know they are very busy and over worked. And it isn't their fault, but something needs to be done about the amount of pressure they are put under and perhaps hire more doctors/nurses.

Unfortunately dreading going back as the pains have started again, and it feels even worse than the first time which I didn't think it would be possible.
