I want to thank all the nurses and doctors of Ward 53 for everything you’ve done in caring for my Dad. My Dad passed away yesterday evening after spending 5 weeks in the ward suffering from advanced dementia and Alzheimer’s. As if that wasn’t enough for him to deal with he was diagnosed with cancer (Pancoast tumour) shortly after admission.
You all work so hard in the most trying of circumstances and are understaffed and underfunded. It makes my heart break thinking of how despite all this you were able to provide such care and compassion to my Dad (who latterly had become difficult to deal with through the confusion and agitation he became afflicted with).
Both my wife and myself cannot thank you all enough. My head is (as it has been after every visit) all over the place and I’m sorry to say I can’t remember all your names but rest assured it’s not through ignorance just that taking everything in was so difficult. I’d also like to thank Kirsten for how she helped with everything yesterday, we could see how upset she was and that too is a comfort. I’m sorry I left a blabbing wreck yesterday evening but you all meant so much to me.
Thank you and God Bless you all. With deepest admiration and gratitude,
"Thank you for caring for my Dad"
