The CAMHS team I accessed I thought were helpful in the sense that they were always there to ask for help or a phone call if I was struggling. However, it was quite clear they have major staffing issues, meaning that staff are being overwhelmed to take on many case loads, which can impact the care we as a service user experience.
My therapist has been a massive help but there has been poor help from the CAMHS crisis team. Being passed around from charities to services, even though its them that is supposed to provide crisis support. The crisis team really has changed a lot. A few years ago you could access it and have the same worker every time if you wanted to, but now it feels like you can clearly tell they are all agency or being deployed from other areas of the trust, meaning you cant build that trusting therapeutic relationship with some one in the team. We feel like we are being fobbed off with a stock answer of -go on a walk"-and then they say -ring us back if you still feel bad-Like what?!?!
There are vulnerable young people under your care and the trust seem very slow at taking action to this. I know of a child dying in your care which we felt was due to staffing and this will happen again if you continue to ignore the failings of CAMHS and improve ASAP. We need more funding, more access to help, more staff, less waiting times and better access to help an resources instead of being left to support ourselves.
What happened to early intervention?!?!
"CAMHS helpful when fully staffed/funded"
