After a major fall, my elderly father my elderly father with type 2 diabetes and other multiple medical issues, cracked head open on a corner unit and landed on a hard floor, blood gushing from head and dazed and confused. First responder turned up quickly, but limited resource. 1 hour wait time for ambulance. Ambulance workers cleaned up cut and stitch loose flap of skin on head, then took him to Hull Royal after making sure injuries weren’t life threatening. Then was left in A&E for 9.5 hours waiting to initially get a ct scan, then another 3 hours to see final doctor and get discharged.
Times for these events (approx within 10 minutes):
Fall on Monday 2pm;
First responder 2.20pm;
Ambulance 3.10pm;
Taken to Hull Royal 4.20pm;
Then left in A&E not long after arriving…
Finally seen in A&E for CT scan 1.45am;
Final doctor review 4.30am.
We were then able to drive my dad home and arrived home 5.15am.
