"A&E"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

After being triaged and seeing an assessment doctor(4 hours) I was told they wanted me to admit me and I had to be seen by a medical team before going on a ward. I spent 9 hours in chair in A&E corridor before being admitted to a ward and without being seen by a doctor. I was awoken by a doctor at 3.00 am who examined me and told me I did not need inpatient treatment.

The hospital was extremely busy but my ordeal in the chair could have been avoided. I was also not provided with regular updates of the situation (ie waiting times) whilst in the chair and sometimes ignored for hours at a time. My main concern was lack of information. The assessment doctor never provided me with any indication as to how long I would have to wait and thereafter no-one else did. This was extremely frustrating, uncomfortable and anxiety provoking
