I arrived at hospital by emergency ambulance with severe chest pain and had ECGs and other tests. I was told my condition was not life threatening and asked to vacate the cubicle for more serious patients. I was then told to go to waiting room and wait probably for 7 hours.
I asked for a wheelchair to get there as I was struggling to walk. This was refused and I was told I was fit enough to walk. and there would be enough chairs to sit on in the waiting room. On arrival at the waiting room the place was rammed, no seats anywhere, they would not even give me water to drink.
I am a type 2 diabetic and had not eaten for 12 hours and a seven hour wait would be impossible for me. I had to get a nurse to remove the tubes in my hand so I could leave and go home. I now sit here typing this drugged up on paracetamol to ease the pain not knowing what to do next. The NHS seems to have completely given up. This was Wexham Park hospital in Slough not some third world country. I hope to god nothing serious happens to me or I will be doomed. I guess every one is in the same boat unless you can afford to go private. How is someone with diabetes, kidney & liver problems supposed to get private health cover?
