(as the patient),

I attended Altnagelvin A&E in June. I couldn’t believe how busy it was. My doctor sent me as he suspected I may have had a bleed on the brain.

Every member of staff in this place are absolute heroes. From the moment i went through the doors I received the care and attention I needed from doctors and nurses who were obviously run off their feet. Within hours I was diagnosed with a dissection of my carotid artery in my neck. Shocked to say the least, but luckily no bleed on the brain. This led me to spend some time in the stroke ward where the doctors and nurses got me on the path to recovery.

I met so many lovely people in this place in the few days I was there.  They couldn’t have done enough for me. I’m on the way to recovery now and I will be forever grateful to these amazing people.

Thank you for sharing this which must have been a frightening experience for you. I just wanted to let you know that this was passed onto both the A&E and Stroke Ward. It is great that staff receive such positive feedback. It is very much appreciated that staff are recognised for the vital work they do and the fact that you have taken the time to post this as well.
