"Empathic Experience"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Went to A&E on a Saturday afternoon with a progressive hand infection. I was triaged quickly and the subsequent assessment was very thorough, culminating in a course of antibiotics. The staff were very empathic and put my mind at rest while waiting. Subsequently, due to good liaison from the clinician, my GP contacted me a few days later to assess progress.

Dear Howard,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such kind feedback about your recent experience of care in the Emergency Department (ED) at Eastbourne District General Hospital; we very much appreciate it and hope the infection you presented with has now cleared up.

The Trust has continually strived to provide a high standard of care in what has been and continues to be extremely busy and challenging times, particularly for our ED's, and so we are delighted to read this was your experience. It is also very important to us that patients are treated not only appropriately and professionally but with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect to meet our core values, and we are particularly pleased to read staff were able to put your mind at rest while you waited to be seen as you were undoubtedly worried, anxious or in discomfort.

We will ensure your feedback is shared with the ED as they will want to read of your gratitude. Take care Howard, and keep safe and well.
