"My brother getting his hearing aid repaired"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Audiology

(as a service user),

My brother wears an overhead hearing aid and only has 30% hearing.  He went to The Royal infirmary  Glasgow a few days ago, to see if he could get another one to replace this, but the manager of the audiology  department,  said no. It would have to be sent away, that they no longer deal with this there. So he hasn't  been able to hear for a week and isn't able to talk on the phone and I'd a carer for his mother, so needs his hearing.  And this is affecting,  his ability,  to do everyday tasks for himself. And nobody at the audiology  department  or his doctors  surgery,  have helped him with this situation.  He lives in the gorbals and has been deaf since birth and has had trouble now getting  repairs or replacement hearing aids and batteries.  When previously,  over the years, he was cared for with his needs.  Please , can you advised me of a number or person to get in contact with  my brother.

Dear Da Roch

I am very sorry to hear about your brother’s experience at the Audiology Department. I have checked with my colleagues in the Audiology Department and they have asked if you can contact Lorna Hastings, who is the Lead Audiologist to discuss your brother’s hearing aid. Lorna’s telephone number is: 0141 452 3152.

Thank you

Nicole

Thanks Nicole for the helpful feedback on my brothers case. I have passed these contact details for the audiology department onto him and hopefully, he will get his hearing aid replacement dealt with quickly.
