About: The Kensington Nursing Home

After spending the past 3 months in a hospital followed by a Hospice, my 97 year old mother was considered sufficiently stable to be discharged to a care home to receive Palliative care. I was extremely apprehensive about her ability to cope physically and mentally with such a move. It is still early days, but I am grateful to the staff at the Kensington Care Home who have welcomed my mother with such kindness and friendship. Although she does not know where she is, she is not afraid and very evidently feels safe in this new environment.

As she is a very frail woman with Alzheimer’s, I believe this is a major achievement for the Kensington Care Home, nursing and care staff to have gained her trust in such a relatively short period, particularly as the staff change frequently and they are all wearing masks. On a personal level, I have been encouraged to visit my mother on regular basis and am very grateful to the staff for the support I also receive from them.

It is reassuring for me to feel that, in this final stage of her life, her personal dignity will continue to be a paramount consideration in all the care provided.

I intend to update my review further at a later date.
