My wife had a massive heart attack in March 2022. The paramedic was there within 5 minutes and ambulance shortly after. My wife was admitted to the coronary care unit, Hairmyers East Kilbride. 3 days after admission, she was taken into the Lab to put stents in. It could not be done as my wife had vascular peripheral disease in the legs and the arteries were blocked. They took her into the lab later in the afternoon to try and put a balloon in to support the heart, as she had another massive heart attack. The 2 arteries going into the left hand side of the heart were 99% blocked. Another hospital was contacted to see if they could do a bypass. They said she would die on the table as she was not strong enough. The doctor did not think she would last another 2 days for the next attempt to put stents in. Dr Carrick took her case and attempted the procedure. 2 Stents normally take 1-2 hrs. Dr Carrick and his Lab team worked on my wife for 5 hours and saved her life. 4 weeks after meeting my wife, we got married. In May this year, we were married for 47 years. I will never ever be able to repay Dr Carrick, his Lab team and the CCU in Hairmyers. I will be eternally grateful to everyone involved.
