"Delays in getting a scan"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire University Hospital Wishaw / Radiology

(as a staff member),

I'm writing this on behalf of my mum as she is to upset to do it herself. My mum has been in severe pain has attended her GP in which her GP referred her for an urgent MRI scan over 2 years ago and is still waiting. She is unable to work due to this. When she phones referrals management they aren't very helpful and just keep saying she will just have to wait. My mum is also upset as she is not able to work. She can't get the right treatment as they don't know what they are treating until she gets this MRI. Any help would be appreciated as over 2 years for an urgent MRI is far too long.

Dear Syksh97

I'm sorry for the distress this has caused you and your mum whilst you await this appointment.

We are currently working through the backlog of referrals caused by the Covid 19 pandemic.

If you would like to contact our patient affairs team at University Hospital Wishaw and pass on your mums details then I would be happy to look into this further for you.

With best wishes

Sara
