I would like to thank the gastro team for successfully re-inserting my balloon peg tube on Friday as a patient on ward 101. I had a fall at home and unfortunately dislodged the recently inserted balloon tube. As the tube was out of the site for a while it wasn’t easy for the doctors to get the tube back into position as the site had started to close.
The doctor (Amy) worked really hard trying to stop the site from closing by inserting different tubes. She explained what she was doing so I was reassured as I was worried and sore. Dr Metcalfe managed to insert the tube later in the day and again reassured me. I was also reassured that my concerns were listened to as there was a delay in me being admitted for treatment. I am thankfully feeling much better today and back to using the PEG tube as normal.
