I went to Urgent Care this week and was shocked. These are the reasons why:
- There was only one doctor on call to deal with all the patients.
- There was no receptionist for 20 mins+ meaning that people arriving to UCC and A&E were just waiting
- It was dirty, messy and full of rubbish
- Waiting times were 7h +
- Individuals with mental health issues were wandering around the hospitals for the full duration of my stay (7h), with no one able to care for them
- Patients in need of care were having to leave due to the long waiting time, meaning they did not receive the medical attention necessary
The care I received from the Dr was great, I do not have an issue with that (they were lovely, patient, caring and attentive). However the experience was quite upsetting - I am furious that this is what a top 'NHS' (now owned/partly owned by a company called Greenbrook) hospital in the UK offers. It is clear that patient and staff care is not a priority in this hospital. It is also clear that our taxes are not funding the NHS. This is whole experience was unacceptable.
I am warning my friends and family to not seek UCC or A&E services from Kings College Hospital. I will never be returning and would rather travel longer than go through that experience again.
"Severely underfunded/staffed, terrible experience"
