Yesterday, my 19 year old daughter wanted me to sit in on her telephone consult about her mental health, which she has been struggling with for approx 18 months. My daughter, put off asking for help as she anticipated mis judgement . This could not have been further from the experience. Dr Bryce conveyed absolute compassion, care & made my quite vulnerable daughter feel validated, as someone unwell genuinely needing help, that she could help and signpost her towards further support, where she could help herself.
The consultation was late, I suspect as Dr Bryce gives patients longer than is scheduled, instead she appears to give them the time and space she needs to understand and then support. It suited my daughter to be on a telephone consult yesterday, it felt less intimating than a face to face ownership of her mental health concerns. There has been so much criticism of gp services in & beyond the pandemic, I felt compelled to point out great care. I am so grateful that I can trust someone like Dr Bryce with my precious girl, when she is feeling so vulnerable. I believe she is in safe caring hands.
