"Supportive alcohol care with CGL"

About: Change Grow Live Cambridgeshire / Wisbech

(as a service user),

I came into treatment with CGL before first COVID for support with for alcohol use and how to manage my life. I was on an oredr and had to attend after drink driving.

I was due to retire last year and am 67 this year and am scared. Scared of getting older and not knowing how to cope with life. Alcohol plays a big part at present of me coping to try to help me forget.  I are aware this does not work, but I cant stop and don't know how to stop.

CGL are helping me big time.  I attend groups with Andrea  and she is brilliant and fantastic and listens. I do not lie and feel that I don't need to.

Over the last few weeks I have spiralled out of control and cannot understand why - I have the support of CGL and my partner.

I would love to more attend more groups but due to working patterns am unable to do so.

I complete my order next month and have had excellent care through the order also.

I will continue to work with CGL  as I feel supported and feel if I could find some way to give back I will work towards volunteering to give back the excellent service I feel I have.

If I had one wish granted I would like to wake up and be fixed but I know I need to do the work and will continue to do this.

I hope to find normality with CGL

THANKYOU

Thank you for sharing the details of your very personal story. I'm so sorry that you feel scared but you are in the right place to get the help you want. I'm sure your workers have talked about the options for detox with you as well.

You will get there. You sound like someone who is willing to get the support and to turn your life around. I hope you are aware of our Cambridgeshire Recovery Service who provide lots of additional support and activities to help with your recovery.

Well done and thanks for sharing.
