What I liked
The staff who do very well despite the depressing building.
What could be improved
This building is 30 years overdue for renewal. My wife and I went for our first baby scan last week and were both shocked at the state of the building.
Walking though the main entrance is like stepping back in time 50 years! Small, smelly, cramped overcrowded wards.
Electric cables draped over exposed pipework near the ceiling.
No wonder this hospital has such a poor patient heath history, it is impossible to clean thoughly.
Walking back from our ward, we diverted around the outside rear of the hospital to avoid walking though the main buiding again and saw smashed windows, rotton wooden building frames, peeling paint, and piles of rubbish and old medical equipment stacked in a pile about 10 foot high!
This building is a disgrase to the NHS and i feel cheated out of the tens of thousands of pounds of my National Insurance & tax money that has been taken out of our wages for the last twenty years.
And to top it off they have the cheek to charge you to park.
There is no way i am risking the health of my wife and unborn child in allowing her to give birth in this dump.
At least the long overdue new hospital they are building next door will be open in 2011.
