"Recurrent pharmacy delays"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre / Pharmacy Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre / Ward 8/9 BMTU

(as the patient),

Hi there. Just wanted to say the B8 and B9 infusion ward at the Beatson today was spot on and took care of me quite quickly. However, there seems to be a recurring problem with delays in the hospital pharmacy.

I arrived for my appointment at 8:30 this morning and it's now 11:20 and the only hold up is waiting on the pharmacy to bring up my medication. This seems to happen quite frequently and is often why one appointment turns into a very exhausting full day for me.

Dear Violet,

Many thanks for your post! I really appreciate your positive comment about B8/B9 and I will ensure that this is fed back to the team!

Please accept our apologies for the length of time you have to wait for your treatment today and also for the other days that you have had to wait. I can only imagine how frustrating and tiring this must be.

Our day case areas are extremely challenged just now, in particular our pharmacy department which is mainly due to workload. As a service we are reviewing the workload and in particular how we can improve on our waiting times for patients. If agreeable would you be willing to share your details with me, as this would allow me to find out more as to why you are having to wait for your treatment.

Many Thanks

Maureen Grant
