My daughter suffered brain injury in November 2019. Since then, she had numerous PICU admissions. As our local hospital is located in Newry, we have been transferred by Nistar between 10-15 times. Each time drivers, nurses and during critical times doctors were amazing. Very knowledgable, professional and reassuring. They provided me with all the information, made sure i understood everything, allowed questions and showed genuine interest in both my daughter and us, the parents.
The last 2 times we were transfered home by the same team, Linda and Phil. We met Linda months before, she transfered my daughter most times. She is an amazing person and nurse. During each icu stay she ways found a minute to check up on both my daughter and myself. Transfers were well organised, I was asked what would make the transfer easier on my daughter, I was listened to and reassured throughout.
Every team we dealt with was amazing, this year alone we got transfered by Natasha and Vicky who also looked after my daughter in PICU. They always showed genuine interest in my daughter when we crossed paths at the hospital corridors. I never felt like we are just another job, they make sure they get to know patients and parents. I would like to thank them all for all the amazing work they have been doing
