"It’s very hard passing the time in here"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 North Cardiology

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I’ve been in the hospital since April after I had a heart attack, I have been waiting on an operation for six weeks and still haven’t received it as it keeps getting cancelled or delayed. Which is really annoying as I have been ready for it for a while now. It’s very hard passing the time in here, I often find myself very bored with nothing to do. It’s not too bad now that some of the visiting is allowed, but it’s still very limited which I think should be improved. Other than that the nurses on this ward have been proving good care to me, the food is okay I’ve got very sick of it, although I never find myself going hungry.

Hi,

I am sorry you have been waiting on surgery for such a long time. Unfortunately there needs to be a lot of preparation and liaising with the surgeon to ensure you are fit for surgery. The surgeons are based in the RVH with limited slots to facilitate surgery for all of the patients in Northern Ireland.

I appreciate the days are long, the trust provide broadband which should help you pass some time. The restarting of visiting hopefully will provide some distraction.

I am glad you have found the care good.

Hope it is not too long until you get your surgery date,

Regards,

Eileen Magowan,

Clinical Sister,

1 North.
